War Of One

Through the technique of readymade and assemblage, I create in variable dimensions an installation related to war and loss, both on an individual and cosmic level.

I make clothing - armor and individual costume pieces that are related with combat. Wanting to emphasize the part of loss, death and trauma through the ΄΄memories΄΄ that toys and clothes bring.

I use the unit of small toy soldier, to show the loneliness of loss and the “war” we create within ourself, when we experience flashbacks of traumatic events. The toys are placed on the fabric in such a way that it’s perceived like war and loss are intertwined with the body itself. Rough to the touch and heavy, the armor is as hostile and violent to the outside (no one can touch or hug the individual) as to the inside(heavy, stiff with an uneven rough coat) creating small wounds, making beathing and moving hard to the one who’s wearing it.

In this installation, in addition to the sculptures, there are also drawings consisting of soldiers where the element of their own shadow is intense. All toys together, create a field of loss. Color is intentionally absent, emphasizing the intensity of war, loss, loneliness and trauma.
